Your Excellency,
COMMISSERATION WITH THE PEOPLE OF VENEZUELA, & THE BOLIVARIAN REVOLUTION ON THE PAINFUL DEATH OF PRESIDENT HUHO CHAVEZ FRIAS

It is with a heavy heart that we received the painful news of President Hugo Chavez’s death. This is a great loss to the poor and working people of Venezuela, and indeed across the world. In the past fourteen years that Comrade Chavez was President of your great country, he stood for the exploited and oppressed.

His social policy ensured significant re-distribution of wealth in favour of the poor, while with the brigades and missions of the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela, the mass of working people entered the arena of re-shaping their lives and society as a whole.

As a health workers’ union, we particularly appreciate the concern which Comrade Chavez gave to healthcare delivery through a massive health mission, that gave millions of Venezuelans access to affordable qualitative health, some, for the very first time ever.

At moments like this, even as we convey our heartfelt condolence to the poor and working people of Venezuela whom President Chavez lived and died for, words are hardly enough to express our grief. We do however assure you and all the good people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela of our solidarity, as you forge ahead with building on the vision and efforts of Comrade Hugo Chavez.

With a painful heart,

Baba Aye
